Not sure whether you’re covered?
Speak to your doctor
When you’re injured or in pain, dealing with complex healthcare information and forms can feel overwhelming. Speak to your doctor or other health professional to ask about coverage.
If you prefer, we can contact your practitioner or your hospital on your behalf.
Expert physiotherapy care when you’re referred to us by health professionals
Have you been referred to Leap Healthcare by someone at a hospital, or by your doctor?
(If you’d like to contact us without a referral, that’s fine too — contact us directly at any time.)
At Leap Healthcare, we work closely with other medical professionals to help you to regain your health and strength. Commonly, we receive referrals from local doctors, from hospitals, and from medical specialists when there’s a challenge related to your body’s structure and functioning.
We treat many different kinds of injuries and health conditions, including those involving musculoskeletal injuries, as well as chronic conditions, such as osteoarthritis, obesity, and diabetes.
When you’re referred to us, you’re covered for your physiotherapy treatments and programs.
Medicare, TAC and WorkCover: you’re covered for physiotherapy treatments

Medicare often refers patients for physiotherapy treatments to cover a large variety of injuries, as well as chronic pain, such as arthritic pain.
If you’re referred to us, via Medicare, or if you’re being treated under your Transport Accident Commission (TAC), or WorkCover insurance, you’ll receive a claim number.
Once we have your claim number, we bulk-bill, making claims on your behalf, so that you don’t have out-of-pocket expenses. Your referring practitioner may give you a letter or other documents for us, or you may have form. Please let us know you’ve been referred when you book an appointment, or at your first visit.
We’ll stay in touch with your referrer as your treatment program progresses.
Medicare
Physiotherapy care under Medicare
Since Medicare is Australia’s primary healthcare system, it covers the costs for your care and health treatments, including visits to specialists such as physiotherapists.
For physiotherapy, your Medicare coverage is available under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan if you have been referred by your GP for a chronic condition or complex care needs. This plan covers treatments which are expected to take six months or longer, and which involve several medical practitioners.
Your doctor will explain how your physiotherapy treatments will help you, and what to expect in your treatments.
When your treatments begin, we’ll stay in touch with your doctor, and any other health specialists who are involved in your care.
TAC
Physiotherapy care under TAC
Victoria’s TAC is a government organization, and helps those who’ve been injured on the roads. Victorians pay for their TAC coverage with their car registration.
TAC pays for your physiotherapy treatments in the first 90 days after an accident; you will be provided with a TAC number.
When you contact Leap Healthcare, we will accept your TAC payments, so you won’t need to pay us directly and claim later: we claim on your behalf. TAC may contact us to assess your treatments’ progress, and to ensure that your treatments are helping.
WorkCover
Physiotherapy care under WorkSafe
Employers obtain WorkCover (WorkSafe Victoria) insurance to cover their employees in the event of injuries. WorkSafe compensates employees who have suffered an injury in their workplace, or elsewhere, if the injury is related to their work.
In the first instance, your employer will report your injury to WorkCover, to qualify you for available rehabilitation programs, including physiotherapy.
Leap Healthcare is registered with WorkSafe to provide physiotherapy services, so you won’t have any out-of-pocket expenses for your physiotherapy consultations and treatments.
Injuries covered by WorkSafe can include musculoskeletal injuries, as well as:
Brain injuries.
Crush and burn injuries.
Orthopaedic injuries, such as fractures and loss of limbs.

How can I claim a Medicare rebate at Leap Healthcare?
Visit your GP to discuss your chronic disease or injury and obtain a Chronic Disease Management Plan. This will allow you to claim up to 5 Medicare subsidised physiotherapy visits.
Book an appointment with us using the online Booking Form.
Medicare is bulk billed for under 16 and over 70. Bulk billing means you don’t have to pay for your medical service to us. We process the rebate at our end from Medicare as full payment for the service.
